Memphis looked like it was absolutely dead in the water earlier this season. But those Tigers are a completely different team now and have gotten their act together at just the right time. They’ve won the last six games in a row and 12 of their last 13. They’re seemingly on the right side of the bubble now and could get guaranteed a spot with a win over Houston.

Houston has only lost twice out of conference to Wisconsin and Alabama — both tournament teams. It has taken three losses in conference with two coming to Memphis and another inexplicable one to SMU. You might say that Memphis has Houston’s number, but it is fairly difficult to beat a team three times in one season.

Memphis vs. Houston Basketball Game Betting Preview

Despite some talk of this Memphis team being selfish at times, it still averages about 16 assists a game on 27 made baskets. On the flip side of that, Memphis also turns the ball over more than it forces them from opponents. It’s a 16.3-to-15.2 ratio in that regard, which is not ideal for close game situations in the postseason that require good decision-making and ball control.

Houston is one of the best defensive teams in the country, holding opponents to less than 59 points a game. Despite not being terribly big, this team still averages over five blocks a game, which is good for a top-15 rating. They also force 14.5 turnovers per game, which will definitely affect this game.

Both Houston and Memphis are excellent offensive rebounding teams. Houston is No. 8 in the country with Memphis being No. 20 so whoever can limit the other team might fare quite well in this game. You can imagine that second chance opportunity will not be taken lightly.
