The Spurs are coming off back-to-back wins against the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves. Unfortunately, the 129-124 victory against the Chicago Bulls stood in the shadows of the surprising Josh Primo news for a lot of fans. However, that was certainly an impressive win given the fact the team was extremely short-handed. Most recently, the Spurs finished off the Timberwolves with a 107-98 win on Sunday night. Keldon Johnson shined in both of those appearances tallying 58 points combined.

Spurs vs. Raptors Preview
By now, NBA fans around the league have come to the realization the Spurs’ young core is a force to be reckoned with. After a 5-2 start, the Spurs will face their toughest opponent yet tonight. While the Raptors may be a formidable opponent, we’re talking about the injury report. Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson are on track to have a breakout year solidifying themselves as stars in the NBA, both are out for tonight’s contest.
Jakob Poeltl is sure to take a step up tonight it would be surprising if he doesn’t finish the game with a double-double. Spurs rookies Malaki Branham and Jeremy Sochan should expect to see increased minutes tonight. Look for Branham to establish himself tonight. In the last game against the Timberwolves, he scored 5 points. With Sochan likely to share a lot of minutes with him, Branham should be a bit more comfortable on the court.
The Raptors are 4-3 at the start of the season and are coming into the AT&T after a 139-109 victory in Atlanta over former Spur Dejounte Murray’s Hawks. Pascal Siakam will be looking to repeat his double-double performance tonight. In the game against the Hawks, he had 31 points and 12 rebounds. Siakam will likely be the strongest defensive challenge for the Spurs in tonight’s contest. Look for strong performances from Gary Trent Jr and Scottie Barnes who both scored 21 points off the bench in Atlanta.
Keys For Success
We know by now the Spurs will be playing the same type of defense-focused, team-offense basketball that won them their last Championship in 2014. They’ll be looking to make extra passes on offense for the best shot available. Keys for success tonight will be strong defensive effort, second-chance points, and limiting turnovers.
