Spurs vs. Nuggets

The San Antonio Spurs return to the AT&T Center tonight for a fellow Western Conference matchup again the Denver Nuggets. The matchup will take place at 7:30 PM Central Time.

The Spurs and Nuggets are on completely different sides of the Western Conference. The Denver Nuggets are sitting comfortably at the top in the number one spot, while the Spurs are all the way at the bottom sitting just above the last-seeded Houston Rockets.

The Spurs are most recently coming off of a back-to-back against that worst team in the league, the Rockets. The result? 0-2 for San Antonio. Of course, there were injuries involved, but the Spurs could not capitalize and bring home a victory in their series against the worst team in the West. Unfortunately, the second game finished even worse than the first losing by 30+ points.

Spurs vs. Nuggets Preview

For the Spurs, they are coming off of two games that any team would want to forget. The Wembanyama sweepstakes saw two back-to-back losses against the worst team in the league. For some fans, this is what they hoped for. For others, this unfamiliar territory is definitely unsettling.

The Spurs do not have a perfectly healthy lineup tonight, but they are in much better shape than they have been as of late. One questionable call tonight is seeing Blake Wesley and Dominick Barlow back on the G-League roster. A win here for the Spurs doesn’t do much, as they are officially ruled out of the playoffs. It would have been nice to see Blake Wesley and Dominick Barlow to continue to get their 15-20 minutes a game at the next level. In all fairness though, Tre Jones is back and they do have Devonte Graham, who has been putting on a clinic from deep. The trio of Vassell, Johnson, and Graham would not be surprising if they secured the top three scorers for the silver and black.

The most obvious threat on the other end of the court will be Nikola Jokic, who will definitely give Zach Collins and Charles Bassey a handful to deal with. Other than the big man, the Spurs will need a tight eye on the floor general Jamal Murray, Michael Porter jr, and high flyer in Aaron Gordon. There is no shortage of talent on this line-up, and they are number one in the West for a reason. An $1800 bet on a Nuggets win would pay out a measly $200. If those odds suggest anything, a Spurs win here is a gargantuan task.
