If you haven’t read our previous leftover notes and quotes posts, the series is an homage to 
former Express-News Sports Editor Barry Robinson, who often emptied out random clippings from his reporter’s notebook. We try to do the same in bringing you those small bits that didn’t make it into our other posts, but are still noteworthy.
• In the record books
The San Antonio Spurs held the Memphis Grizzlies to their franchise-low 62 points in a 111-62 thrashing of the Grizz on November 8, 1995. It is also still the largest loss deficit in franchise history.
Two years later, former Spur Chuck Person set a Spurs franchise record with nine 3-pointers, torching the then Vancouver Grizzlies from beyond the arch.

• Opening Night Success
With last night’s win, the Spurs now have a 25-11 record on opening night, while their home record on opening night is now 18-5. They have now won their last three home opening night games.
• Splitter “special” against Grizzlies
“I thought Tiago was really good defensively,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “He was really solid. He stayed in good position. He blocked shots and he rebounded. He was real special tonight.”
