It has certainly not been an easy last few games for the Austin Spurs. The team is currently on a five-game losing streak after dropping their last game to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. The Spurs will now continue their road trip in another rivalry matchup with the Texas Legends. The Legends will have a sour taste in their mouths after losing their last game 138-135 to Birmingham. Austin will hope to just try and get back into the win column and get some momentum going.

Austin Spurs Preview
The Austin Spurs are currently going through a rough patch at this point of the season. They have lost their last five games and now face a Texas Legends team that just lost a heartbreaker. Maybe this is a good time for Austin to break this losing streak and start to build momentum. If they were to do so, they will have to rely on the offensive brilliance of Chaundee Brown Jr., who had 26 points in the loss to RGV. Dominick Barlow will be tasked with filling the absence of their dominant big man Charles Bassey. Barlow ended up totaling 17 points and six rebounds in the loss on Wednesday.
With the absence of Bassey, Brown Jr. will have to continue to put up consistent offensive performances in this next stretch of games. Other members of the team will also need to step up in order to create a more balanced attack. The issue with Austin in the past few games has been defending the interior spaces, and if they can improve on this, they will have a greater chance of winning ballgames.

While the Legends are sort of middle of the road in terms of the standings, the big strength of this team is the impressive offense. Take for example the last game against Birmingham, where guard Tyler Dorsey had an incredible 47 points while forward Grant Riller had 35. Dorsey and Riller have been excellent for Texas this season and will give Austin many issues. If Dorsey gets hot from behind the arc, it is very tough to stop him for the sharpshooter that he is. This game will be a test of who can make certain defensive stops within a game. Both teams have really competitive offensives, but can they make defensive plays when it counts? In a game that could mean a lot to both teams’ seasons, it should be a thrilling watch.
