Award season continues for the San Antonio Spurs as LaMarcus Aldridge was named to the league’s All-NBA Second Team on Thursday.
This is the fifth career All-NBA selection for Aldridge and second with the Spurs. Aldridge also earned Second Team honors in 2015 and Third Team honors in 2011, 2014 and 2016.
Aldridge’s All-NBA selection comes after arguably his best season in San Antonio.
In 75 games this season the 32-year-old forward averaged 23.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game while shooting 51 percent from the field. Aldridge also tied a career high by averaging 1.2 blocks per game.
Aldridge is just one of seven players in the NBA to be named to an All-NBA team at least five times since 2011. The other six are Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, James Harden, Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook.
In addition, Aldridge becomes the seventh player in Spurs history to receive multiple All-NBA selections joining Tim Duncan, George Gervin, Manu Ginobili, Kawhi Leonard, Tony Parker and David Robinson.
