A fully healthy Austin Spurs team continues to be a sight to see, as the silver and black have now won three straight games to gain some ground on the first place Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Here’s a weekend recap.

AUSTIN SPURS: 111, Rio Grande Valley Vipers: 95

On Friday night the Spurs faced their southern rivals, the Vipers, in a sound 16-point victory.

While the San Antonio Spurs were having trouble facing the Houston Rockets, their G League counterparts managed to take care of business with some NBA help.

Derrick White, on assignment from San Antonio, led the Spurs with 18 points and three rebounds. Livio Jean-Charles was exceptionally dominant off the bench, scoring 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting. The French forward also managed to record seven rebounds and three blocks. Jaron Blossomgame had a solid offensive showing with 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists. And finally, Darrun Hilliard scored 15 points in 16 minutes off the bench.

It was the first time the Vipers scored less than 100 points all season.

AUSTIN SPURS: 100, Canton Charge: 96

Sunday afternoon was a nail-biter as the Spurs blew a 16-point lead before sealing the victory in overtime for their third straight win.

A strong start for Austin gave them an early 12-point lead to end the first quarter.

Derrick White’s hot shooting kept the Spurs afloat in the second quarter, as they took a 52-36 lead into halftime behind White’s 15 first half points.

Canton throttled Austin coming out of the locker room at halftime, scoring 37 points on 57 percent shooting in the third quarter.

Luckily for the Spurs the duo of Matt Costello and Jaron Blossomgame dominated the end of the fourth quarter and overtime to seal the victory.

We’ll have more on today’s game coming up later.
