After kicking off the Eurocup with a win over Valencia Basket, Asvel-Villeurbanne won their second consecutive game over Chalon 86-63 behind San Antonio Spurs’ Tony Parker’s stellar play.
Parker finished with 20 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds, 6-12 from the field (50%), 3-5 from the three-point line (60%), 5-8 from the free-throw line (62.5%) in 32 minutes.
Both teams were tied at 21 heading into the second quarter and Chalon took the lead heading into halftime at 38-35.
The second half proved to be the turning point of the game as Asvel outscored Chalon 51-25 in the final two quarters with Asvel outscoring Chalon 34-13 in the decisive third quarter.
Parker finally got some help on the offensive end as four other Asvel players scored in double-figures including New York Knicks’ Ronny Turiaf with his best game finishing with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Hilton Armstrong scored 10 points, Dijon Thompson scored 13 points, and Phil Goss chipped in with 10 points.
Asvel and Parker will next face Lukoil Academik in their second game at the Eurocup.
