Spurscast Topic Breakdown
Options with the Spurs’ remaining cap space
With the Reggie Bullock trade now complete, the San Antonio Spurs are operating with up to $15.5 million in cap space until Tre Jones and Sandro Mamukelashvili sign their new deals.
The interesting question for now becomes what are the Spurs going to do with that cap space? Will they participate in a trade for another player? Will they try to sign any unsigned free agents, or will they just sign Jones and Mamukelashvili and shrink the cap space to $5.5 million?
Victor Wembanyama’s short Vegas run
Sunday Victor Wembanyama finished his short Summer League run with an impressive 27 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Wembanyama’s game going forward is discussed in the episode.
Other Spurs players at Summer League
Malaki Branham, Julian Champagnie, Dominick Barlow, Blake Wesley, and Sidy Cissoko are discussed in whether they’re meeting expectations, surpassing expectations, or whether any of the players have struggled at Summer League.
More In-Season tournament details
Saturday the NBA announced more details regarding the new In-Season Tournament. During Group play, the Spurs will be in Group C in the Western Conference, where they’ll play the Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Oklahoma City Thunder.
From there, the rest of the schedule is discussed. As well as with how teams will qualify for the knockout rounds and what happens to the 22 teams that don’t make the knockout rounds.
