Spurs get past Bakersfield at home

The Austin Spurs earned a 96-87 win over the Bakersfield Jam in front of 3,277 fans at the Cedar Park Center on Sunday afternoon for their second consecutive win.

San Antonio Spurs assignee Ray McCallum led the hometown squad with 24 points and six assists. Orlando Johnson also added 24 and seven rebounds for Austin, who improved to 4-2 at home with the victory.

After the Jam used an 8-0 run to cut the Spurs lead to one, Austin answered back with 11-0 run of their own to give the Spurs the 84-74 lead and Bakersfield would never get closer.

The Jam were led by Xavier Munford’s 20 points. Kyle Casey added 17 for Bakersfield (8-10), who shot just 37 percent (7-of-19) from beyond the arc.

The Spurs are now 12-3 on the season and will return to the court on Tuesday when they face the defending D-League Champions the Santa Cruz Warriors at 7:30 p.m. at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.
