On October 19th the Phoenix Suns released former San Antonio Spurs and Austin Toros forward Dwayne Jones.
This has to be music to the ears of Toros GM Danny Ferry. It is well noted that the Toros were going to miss the 17 points and 16 rebounds that Jones averaged last season and with Curtis Jerrells being traded to the New Orleans Hornets, it is no doubt that the Toros need Jones now more than ever.
The opportunity to add a piece they thought was gone and given the quality of players remaining in free agency and in the upcoming draft, Jones is by far the best player available right now.
Jones is a rebounding machine and a solid player in the paint and the Toros would be insane if they did not give Jones a call to see if he would be willing to come back to the central Texas region.
I don’t see him being a free agent to long so it would be better for the Toros to make a move sooner than later.
