The Dallas Mavericks are continuing their march towards the NBA Finals as they await the winner of the Memphis Grizzlies-Oklahoma City Thunder semifinal series.
Dallas, much to the chagrin of San Antonio Spurs fans, seem poised to capture their first ever franchise NBA title and former Spurs player Steve Kerr sees similarities between this season’s Dallas team and Spurs teams of the past:
The similarity would be the balance between offense and defense. The talent is much different and the style is much different. But the fact that both teams could score when they needed to and make stops at crucial times is what makes them similar.
Indeed Dallas is getting it done on both ends of the court. Against the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas completely dominated every facet of that series and if they keep this style of play going, then Dallas might have a second chance to erase the memories of their meltdown in the 2006 NBA Finals.
