On Thursday several San Antonio Spurs players were in action as France, Argentina, and Brazil 
continued to prepare for the 2012 London Olympic games in two weeks. Thursday’s matchups featured France against Belgium, and Argentina facing Brazil.
France 57 – Belgium 63
Yes you read that right, Les Bleus fell to an inferior team even though Spurs guard Tony Parker played the most minutes since coming back from his eye injury. The French were without newly re-signed Spur Boris Diaw, but Nando De Colo’s team high 15 points (5/12 shooting) weren’t enough to help France make a comeback.
Parker played 20 minutes in the game, his previous high had been six minutes. Parker finished the game with seven points on 3-of-9 shooting.
Brazil 91 – Argentina 75
Down south in Brazil, Tiago Splitter and Brazil got revenge after falling to Argentina last week, though last weeks hero, Manu Ginobili, didn’t play on Thursday. Splitter led Brazil with 19 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Cleveland Cavaliers forward Anderson Varejao helped Brazil with 17 points, while Marcelo Huertas chipped in with 14 points and seven assists.
Argentina was not only missing Ginobili, but Carlos Delfino sat out as well. Reported Amnesty-to-be candidate Luis Scola led Argentina in scoring with 19 points, while new New York Knicks point guard Pablo Prigioni helped Argentina with 11 points and eight assists, but in the end it still wasn’t enough.
After the game, Splitter was named the MVP of the Super Four Olympic Warmup Tournament.
France will play Belarus today while Brazil will face the United States in Washington D.C. on Monday as all three teams continue to prepare for the Olympics.
