When it was announced Quin Snyder was leaving the Austin Toros for the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, Toros’ fans were really anxious to find out who would be the new head coach.

At the end of September the Toros finally got their man — Brad Jones. Jones is the prefect man to sustain the Toros’ reputation of excellence with his very own extensive experience in basketball.

He attended and graduated from Lambuth University in 1990 and was named “Best Male Athlete of the Year” and also “Best Scholar Athlete.” He then went on to get his masters degree in health and physical education from the University of Memphis. He then returned to his alma mater, Lambuth, and became head coach there from 1995- 2001.

As a coach he was named Mid South Conference Coach of the Year twice. In 2001 he became the head coach of the D-League’s Utah Flash and led them to two playoff appearances while also serving as a scout for the NBA’s Utah Jazz. In addition, he has also successfully integrated many of players into the NBA including Morris Almond and JR Giddens.

Jones is “very very excited” to start coaching the Toros and has his sights set high with his goal being to “win the final game of the year” — the D-League championship. He is also really excited about the Toros playing in the Cedar Park Center calling it the “perfect arena” for fans and for the players.

So far it seems like its going to be really great season for the Austin Toros which kicks off in Maine against the Red Claws on November 19th.
