2. José Luis Capón González (February 1948 – 29 March 2020)
José Luis Capón González was a Spanish footballer from Madrid. He died in March 2020 after being infected with the coronavirus and pneumonia. He played for Atlético Madrid between 1970 and 1980, had won the Spanish League in 1973 and 1977, and the Spanish Cup in 1976. He also won Intercontinental Cup in 1974. He played in the 1974 European Cup Final.
3. Norman Hunter (October 1943 – 17 April 2020)
Norman Hunter was an English footballer who played for Leeds United, Bristol City, Barnsley, and England. He was a defender in the 1996 FIFA World Cup-winning squad. He was on the list of the Football League 100 Legends. His nickname was “Bites Yer Legs” Hunter. He played 726 games for Leeds. He died after being tested positive for the COVID-19.
4. Donato Sabia (September 1963 – 7 April 2020)
Donato Sabia was an Italian middle-distance runner who died because of Covid-19 at the age of 56. He participated in the Summer Olympics in the year 1984, 1988. He secured the fifth rank in 1984 and seventh in 1988. Sabia also won 6 individual national championships. He was ranked first in the 400 meters once, in the 800 meters thrice, and in the 400 meters indoor twice.
5. Thomas John Dempsey (January 1947 – 4 April 2020)
Thomas John Dempsey was an American football player who was born without toes on his right foot played as a placekicker in the National Football League (NFL) for the New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams, Houston Oilers, and Buffalo Bills. His kicking style was the then-standard straight-toe style. With the Saints in 1970, he made a 63-yard field goal that stood the NFL record for over 40 years.
6. Shobushi Kanji (November 1991 – 13 May 2020)
Shobushi Kanji was a Japanese sumo wrestler from Kōfu, Yamanashi. He was the first sumo wrestler to die from the coronavirus pandemic at an age of 28. As per the report, Shobushi was the first Japanese between the ages of 20 and 30, to die because of the Covid-19 outbreak.
7. Daniel Yuste Escolar (November 1944 – 26 March 2020)
Daniel Yuste was a Spanish cyclist. He participated in the individual pursuit at the 1968 Summer Olympics. Daniel was the first known Olympian that died from the coronavirus pandemic.
8. José Luis Capón González (February 1948 – 29 March 2020)
José Luis Capón was a Spanish footballer from Madrid. He played for Atlético Madrid and won the Spanish League in 1973 and 1977, three titles, a Spanish Cup in 1976, an Intercontinental Cup in 1974, and 13 Spain caps. He played in the 1974 European Cup Final that Atlético lost. He died from pneumonia resulting from COVID-19 at the age of 72.
9. Benito Joanet Giménez (September 1935 – 22 March 2020)
Benito Joanet Giménez was a Spanish football player and manager, who died in Alicante after getting infected from the Covid-19 pandemic. After retiring, he took charge as a football manager of Hércules, Castellón, Antequerano, Cádiz, Mallorca, Espanyol, Salamanca and Las Palmas.
10. Maharaj Krishan Kaushik (May 1955 – May 8, 2021)
Maharaj Krishan Kaushik was a member of the India national field hockey team. He was coach of the Indian women’s national field hockey team. He was a member of the team that won the gold medal at the Summer Olympics in 1980. In 1998, he also received the Arjuna Award. He died due to an infection of COVID-19 in New Delhi.
