SAFC looking to bounce back after loss to Sacramento

The San Antonio Football Club will be back on the pitch at Toyota Field on Saturday for a match with the Phoenix Rising FC at 7:30 p.m. CST.

SAFC will be looking to rebound from a 2-3 loss to the Sacramento Republic on Saturday, which snapped their five straight game win streak.

Most football predictions websites like Free Super Tips would likely have the Phoenix Rising taking this one considering they are on a hot streak of 12 games unbeaten after their recent win over Los Angeles Galaxy II.

Being on the road should be no issue as Phoenix Rising has won their last six away from home, a USL league record.

For San Antonio FC, the issue in their loss was minding the details. As Stephen Anderson reported for our sister site, Red Black 90, the loss squandered a chance for SAFC to get back into the top 10 in the USL Western Conference standings.

“There are a lot of lessons, but this conference is going to be a marathon,” SAFC midfielder Michael Lahoud said. “How we respond will dictate the rest of how this goes. We’ve been a team of resilience and this isn’t the first time we’ve been knocked down. We’ve done good work to get to this moment and earn the right to be in the conversation of the playoff hunt, and now is where the real test begins.”

San Antonio FC is now 7-9-6 (27 points) on the season. Phoenix Rising is 14-2 on the season and sits atop the Western Conference standings. They also own the top record in the USL.

SAFC will have some upcoming matchups this month against Reno 1868 FC on the road before a two-game homestand against Rio Grande Valley FC and New Mexico United where they’ll look to make up some ground.
