Michael and Jeff talk about the Spurs re-signing Kurt Thomas, the Roger Mason signing and the loss of Brent Barry and possibly Robert Horry. We also go over the summer league and our surprises and disappointments now that Summer League is over. A Maryland Terapins fan, Renan Borelli, joins us for a few minutes to talk about James Gist and Roger Mason.
Jeff and I got a chance to record a quick episode Monday night about some of the latest Spurs free agency rumors including Corey Maggette (signed with Golden St.), J.R. Smith, Jarvis Hayes, Roger Mason, Carlos Delfino and others. We also discuss the latest Spurs news about summer league and Manu Ginobili’s decision. I got a chance to talk with IUPUI Sports Information Director Ed Holdaway about Spurs draft selection and former IUPUI standout George Hill. You may not know much about Hill now, but I have a feeling he’s going to end up being a fan favorite in San Antonio. Ed gave us a bit of insight into not only George Hill, the player, but also the person and takes us through the workouts, pre-draft camps and a surreal draft night for Hill.
In a short, but very information-packed episode, Michael and Jeff talk to MVN’s resident draft expert Sam Panayotovich about addressing Spurs team needs in the draft and profiling some of the players who might be around for the spurs taking.
Sam has the Spurs taking Kansas guard Mario Chalmers with the 26th pick Thursday night in his mock draft over at Southside Perspective.
A few of the other players discussed are Nicolas Batum, Chris Douglas-Roberts, Courtney Lee, Serge Ibaka, George Hibbert, Ryan Anderson, Richard Hendrix, DeAndre Jordan, Marrese Speights. Sam names Joey Dorsey and Chris Lofton as potential second round steals for the Spurs.
