On Wednesday afternoon the XFL released their uniforms for the 2023 season on ESPN. The San Antonio Brahmas will don gold and black uniforms with black helmets with golden Brahma horns on the back. The XFL partnered with Under Amour for their Uniform designs, which have garnered praise from XFL fans. After the Covid-19 pandemic cut the 2020 XFL season short, Dewayne The Rock Johnson bought out the XFL. This is the first time the XFL has had a team in San Antonio, so expect big home game crowds.
San Antonio Brahmas First XFL Uniforms
Brahmas head coach Hines Ward and likely starting quarterback Anthon Russo unveiled the new uniforms on the team’s Twitter account. Hines looked genuinely excited to see the uniforms up close saying “Now that’s how you represent San Antonio.
In a statement on the XFL’s website, we get a breakdown of Under Armour’s design:
“XFL jerseys are Under Armour’s proprietary ArmourGrid 2 jersey, with locked-in Fit & Feelleveraging a hybrid of textiles placed where they are needed for durability, fit, and ventilation. ArmourGrid Vent, which makes up the front and back body panels on the jerseys, provides a “No-Grab” ventilated woven ripstop while eliminating unnecessary areas of stretchy material. The shoulder yokes, collar, and cuffs are made from Under Armour’s Twillot fabric, a durable wicking, and anti-microbial tricot blend, while the side and lower body panels feature the high-stretch and ventilated Smokestack mesh.”
The XFL and Under Armour set out to design jerseys they feel represent the home teams’ city and that fans will want to wear. XFL President Russ Brandon said, “Uniforms are a unique and important part of the League, our team brands, and our players representing the cities they play for. We think these home and away designs are ones that our fans will be proud to wear.”
