As a camp hopeful, getting invited to an NBA training camp is one thing but the goal is to survive, making a huge impression on the coaching staff, 
And with the regular season right around the corner, Witherspoon is crossing his fingers he will be wearing black and silver for 82-games.
"Hopefully, God-willing, I'll be a Spur this year," Witherspoon said. "It's been a blessing being able to practice with those guys – Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker and Stephen Jackson. They're an older team. They understand the game and it would be a great place for me to start my career."
It will be tough for him to make the squad considering the team is loaded with guards. Even if he does make the roster, he'd more than likely would be riding the bench. Moreover, with the team needing size, Powell might have the inside track.
But Witherspoon shouldn't fret. San Antonio more than likely send him to the Toros to develop his game and fill in throughout the season if one of the guards succumbs to injury. However, after a stellar showing in the preseason versus the Rockets, (scored 17 points to lead the team) and averaging 8.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, and shooting 64% from the field in 15.7 minutes per game, he may see his hopes become reality.
