SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs split their weekend pair of games, falling to the Cleveland Cavaliers but defeating the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday and Saturday night respectively at the AT&T Center.

Friday: Cavaliers 114, Spurs 109
The Spurs kicked off the weekend with a narrow loss to the Cavaliers, falling 114-109. Cleveland’s defense held San Antonio scoreless for five minutes and that would allow the Cavs to escape with the win.
Darius Garland gave the Spurs all they could handle as he scored 32 points to lead Cleveland. Jarrett Allen finished with 17 points and 16 rebounds for the Cavs, who won their fourth in five games.
Meanwhile, Dejounte Murray had 30 points, 14 rebounds, and eight assists for the San Antonio Spurs. Keldon Johnson added 18 points and Bryn Forbes had 15.
”They are trying their best, we’ve just got to do it better,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. ”We’ve got to have fewer turnovers. We’ve got to have better block-outs and not give up as many offensive boards. Good decisions on shots, finding the 3-man better.”
Saturday: Spurs 101, Clippers 94
The Spurs closed out the weekend with a 101-94 victory over the Kawhi Leonard-less Clippers on Saturday.
After missing several key players due to COVID-19 protocols, the San Antonio Spurs got several back on Saturday and it made all the difference. Derrick White had 19 points in his return and Murray added 18.
“It felt good,” White said of his return. “The first half I felt a little tired, tried to get my wind back.”
San Antonio had seven players score in double figures. Jock Landale added 10 points and 11 rebounds in his first career start.
For Los Angeles, Amir Coffey had 20 points, and Marcus Morris Sr. added 15 points.
