Weekend Recap: Spurs get back to .500 with back-to-back wins

As the season comes to an end, the Austin Spurs have finally gotten back to .500 on the season, in an effort to finish the season on a high note. It’s time for our weekend recap.

AUSTIN SPURS: 117, Texas Legends: 114

Saturday night was tightly contested in Frisco.

The team that’s been known to blow leads in the fourth quarter decided to mount a comeback and win one in the fourth instead.

Six players scored in double figures, led by a team-high 21 points from both Charles Garcia and Orlando Johnson. Garcia also added seven rebounds, while Johnson chipped in three assists and three rebounds. Jeff Ledbetter was another top performer for Austin, scoring 20 points off the bench. Meanwhile, Hollis Thompson finished with 18 points and three rebounds.

The Legends were up 110-105 with only two minutes left in the game, before the Spurs caught fire with an 11-0 run to jump ahead by six points. A Ben Gordon 3-pointer and Jarrod Uthoff free throw put Texas within one possession at 116-114, but Orlando Johnson sealed the game with a free throw to go up three points for the final score.

AUSTIN SPURS: 125, Oklahoma City Blue: 109

Sunday afternoon was an absolute dominating display by the Austin Spurs.

The silver and black outscored Oklahoma City in every quarter, putting up a game-high 38 points in the third quarter, en route to an easy victory.

Seven players scored in double digits for the Spurs in another total team effort, led by Charles Garcia’s 22 points and five rebounds off the bench. Jeff Ledbetter spotted the another 20 points, going 6-for-8 from 3-point land. And Patricio Garino finished with 14 points.

Wednesday night will be the final road game of the season as the Austin Spurs (24-24) look to continue their momentum against the Northern Arizona Suns (22-26). Tipoff is at 8:30 p.m. CST from the Prescott Valley Event Center in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
