SOUTH DAKOTA – The winning streak continues for the Austin Spurs as their back-to-back wins this weekend have helped Austin clinch the Southwest Division and secure a playoff spot.

Here’s a recap of this weekend’s games.

FRIDAY | AUSTIN SPURS: 103 @ IOWA WOLVES: 90

On assignment from San Antonio, rookie guard Derrick White put on an absolute show for the road crowd on Friday night.

White finished with a staggering 37 points to go along with nine assists and seven rebounds. Amida Brimah also carried the Spurs on his shoulders, finishing with 18 points and 18 rebounds.

Austin trailed by as much as seven in the first half before the trio of White, Jaron Blossomgame and Jeff Ledbetter nearly outscored the Iowa Wolves in the third quarter, eventually sealing the victory.

SATURDAY | AUSTIN SPURS: 117 @ SIOUX FALLS SKYFORCE: 107

Despite the shorthanded roster, the Austin Spurs came out firing on all cylinders against the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Saturday night.

Jaron Blossomgame’s 26 points paced the Spurs, while guard Olivier Hanlan had 25 points off the bench. Derrick White had 22 points and seven assists.

With the win, the Austin Spurs clinched the Southwest Division title while also securing an automatic playoff spot as division champion.

WEEKEND NOTES

  • Austin has been without Matt Costello and Darrun Hilliard, who both showed up on the sideline with the San Antonio Spurs this past weekend. There’s a chance they could be part of the 3-on-3 rehabilitation group that Kawhi Leonard is participating in, but nothing confirmed.
  • Livio Jean-Charles was reportedly ready to sign with a Spanish club this weekend, but was listed as injured by Austin and traveled with the team. As of Sunday morning, no signing has been made official.
