The San Antonio Spurs continued their “Rodeo Road Trip” over the weekend with games in Atlanta and New Orleans. The Silver and Black had a new look after trading away Derrick White, Drew Eubanks, and Thad Young.

The results moved San Antonio within a game and a half behind the Portland Trail Blazers for the final play-in spot in the Western Conference.

Here is a mini recap of both games:

Friday: Spurs 136, Hawks 121

The San Antonio Spurs kicked off the weekend with a 136-121 victory over the Hawks at State Farm Arena on Friday night.

Dejounte Murray tied his career highs with 32 points and 15 assists to go along with 10 rebounds for his 11th triple-double this season.

Keldon Johnson added 26 points as the Spurs held a 26 point lead and Atlanta never led as San Antonio easily cruised to a win. Devin Vassell started after White was traded to Boston and scored 20 points.

”That’s the thing in this league,” Murray said. ”You make shots, you miss shots, and I think tonight we made shots, but we also kept our composure and matured. From the first quarter to the fourth quarter, we didn’t let up. We knew we couldn’t let up against a scoring team like Atlanta. That’s really what it was tonight.”

Atlanta was led by Bogdan Bogdanovic’s 23 points while All-Star Trae Young added 16 for the Hawks in the loss.

Saturday: Spurs 124, Pelicans 114

The San Antonio Spurs closed out the weekend with a 124-114 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans at the Smoothie King Center to close out a back-to-back set.

Murray lit up the Pelicans for 31 points and 12 assists while shooting 59 percent from the floor. Lonnie Walker IV added 17 points off the bench and Johnson chipped in 16 points.

Vassell added 14 points in his second game as a starter.

“We’re not thinking about no lottery. We’re competing for the playoffs,” Vassell said.

The Pelicans were led by newcomer CJ McCollum’s 36 points. Brandon Ingram added 22 points and Herbert Jones had 17.
