Virtus Bologna owner still in pursuit of Ginobili

As the sports world waits to see if the NBA lockout will indeed shelve the first two weeks of the regular season, so is San Antonio Spurs’ Manu Ginobili and whether he will head to Italy and join Virtus Bologna.

But despite most of the attention on Kobe Bryant and whether he will play for Virtus, owner Claudio Sabatini still is hoping Ginobili will be joining his team.

“I did not give up on the negotiation with Manu. He would be a different addition to the roster. His arrival would be more important for our roster. The signing of Kobe doesn’t automatically rule him out. Of course, I have to find a lot of money.”

Manu has made it clear he isn’t in a rush, his only aim is to head to Italy and play for Virtus in the event of an extended lockout. More than likely there will be an opt-out clause for Manu once the lockout is over.

And as an aside, if Manu is more important to the Virtus roster, then why has Sabatini been practically begging Kobe to join? But I digress.

So what do you have to say Spurs fans? How would you feel if Manu does head to Italy and play?
