No. 22 Villanova travels to No. 15 Seton Hall for this top-25 Big East matchup. Seton Hall has not played since December 12th due to COVID issues within the program. Villanova last played on December 21st so the Wildcats may have slightly less rust to knock off for this game.

Villanova Basketball vs Seton Hall Game Info

What: Villanova vs Seton Hall Basketball
When: Saturday, Jan. 1st, 2:00 pm (EST)
Where: Prudential Arena, Newark, NJ
Watch Anywhere: Gamepass, CBS

Both teams are allowing about 62 points per game on defense. The main difference between the two teams is that Seton Hall is scoring about six more points a game on offense than Villanova so far this season. The Wildcats may have some momentum after ending a two-game skid against a good Xavier team while the Pirates haven’t played in three weeks.

Seton Hall is not a very good three-point shooting team itself, but it also stops other teams from shooting well out there. They allow teams to shoot 26.1 percent from deep while shooting 31.3 percent themselves. Villanova normally shoots well from deep at 35.8 percent but could find itself struggling against this stingy shooting defense.

The Wildcats are a good ball control team, averaging less than nine turnovers per game while forcing about 13 a game. The Pirates aren’t slouched in that regard though as they average about 11 turnovers given up and 13 forced. However, neither team has been good at getting easy shots as they both average less than 13 assists a game.

This game will definitely come down to whether one of these teams can shoot the three-ball and do so efficiently. If Villanova is able to hit at its normal clip, it will likely win this game. But if Seton Hall can make them struggle and take some bad shots throughout the game, the Pirates should send the Wildcats packing with a loss.
