Before last night's game against the New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs forward Tiago Splitter had been averaging very pedestrian numbers.
Then, in a start against the Lakers, Splitter nearly posted a double-double. Last night against the Knicks, Splitter came alive in the fourth quarter, scoring 13 points in 17 minutes.
“He (Splitter) played well. He played very well on both ends," Tony Parker said after the loss to the Knicks. "He is playing good defense. Offensively, he is playing great too.”
Two of Splitter's 13 points came on a play where he slipped a screen and sealed off Tyson Chandler under the basket. Tony Parker delivered the pass and Splitter finished even after being fouled by Chandler.
Splitter will likely continue to get more playing time with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich making nightly adjustments to his rotation depending largely on matchups. With Denver's JaVale McGee and Kenneth Faried coming into town on Saturday, chances are Splitter will be back out on the floor in key stretches. We'll see then if he's capable of a repeat performance.
