Video: Spurs’ Popovich weighs in on Nets firing Avery Johnson

By now you have heard about the Nets firing former Spur Avery Johnson as head coach.

It came as a bit of a shock considering Johnson guided Brooklyn to an 11-4 start, but the team did go 3-10 since — including two losses to those cross-borough rivals from Manhattan and an embarrassing 93-76 loss at home to Boston on Christmas Day.

Clearly, the Nets didn't want to exercise patience with AJ and expected a better winning-record despite the team being practically brand new and simply needed time to mesh. Also, AJ winning Coach of the Month honors didn't help his cause either.

Johnson's former coach, San Antonio Spurs' Gregg Popovich, weighed in on his firing saying he was surprised at what happened, said the Nets should have exercised more patience with Johnson, and much more. Check out what Pop had to say and leave your thoughts on the Nets letting AJ go.
