Video: ESPN reporting no punishment for Spurs? (UPDATE: NBA FINES SPURS)

UPDATE:

The NBA has fined the Spurs for sitting out its players versus the Heat in last night's contest. Here is the official statement.

NEW YORK, Nov. 30, 2012 — The NBA announced today that the San Antonio Spurs organization has been fined $250,000 for its decision to send four players home prior to the Spurs' Nov. 29 game in Miami. The Spurs' actions were in violation of a league policy, reviewed with the NBA Board of Governors in April 2010, against resting players in a manner contrary to the best interests of the NBA.

NBA Commissioner David Stern stated: “The result here is dictated by the totality of the facts in this case. The Spurs decided to make four of their top players unavailable for an early-season game that was the team’s only regular-season visit to Miami. The team also did this without informing the Heat, the media, or the league office in a timely way. Under these circumstances, I have concluded that the Spurs did a disservice to the league and our fans.”
San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich sent his star players home to rest and that angered NBA Commissioner David Stern. Stern promised "sanctions" against the Spurs for doing this (even though Pop has done this numerous times like last year against the Phoenix Suns).

However, according to the video below which was posted by ESPN yesterday, it's being reported by ESPN's Marc Stein that no punishment will be given to the Spurs. Granted anything can change considering no official statement from the league has been handed out. Should anything change, we will update this post accordingly.

If this is true, this comes as a big blow to Stern's already damaged credibility. It's a huge embarrassment to the league for him to come out and announce an announcement in a hot headed moment and promising to do something out of his realm of authority. Stern is stepping down on February 1, 2014 as commissioner and giving the reigns to deputy commissioner Adam Silver.
