Video: ESPN debates Jefferson’s comments that Spurs are the better team

As we reported this weekend, Utah Jazz center Al Jefferson remarked the San Antonio Spurs are the better team in this opening round playoff series after going down 3-0.

Here is what he said in case you missed it:

“Right now, they just playing well, man. I ain’t never seen nothing like this,” Jefferson said.

He added: “I’m happy to be in the playoffs. I’m happy to go through what I’m going through right now, because that’s what it’s all about. I just think we’re playing against a team that is at its peak, and I don’t see nobody beating ’em. … It’s a great team. I just take my hat off to ’em. Mad respect.”

After reading that, I am sure it may not have sat well with Jazz fans or players who might feel Jefferson is tossing in the towel when the series isn’t over.

ESPN’s Skip Bayless, Stephen A. Smith, and Ric Bucher took time to discuss Jefferson’s comment and while Bucher and Bayless didn’t take too much from it, Smith was up in arms calling “Big Al” pathetic.

In a rare moment, I hate to admit it but I agree with Smith but what do you have to say Spurs fans? What if a Spurs player made similar remarks?
