Video: Cory Joseph’s road to the NBA Finals

In just his second season, San Antonio Spurs' Cory Joseph has done what many sophomores haven't – reach the NBA Finals. The Spurs and Heat battled for the 2013 NBA crown and while San Antonio came up short, seeing Joseph blossom into a rising NBA guard was something all Spurs fans appreciated.

Backing up one of the premier guards in the NBA, Tony Parker, is not an easy task. However, in the second half of last season, Cory showed he is more than capable of backing up the 3-time champion guard and it came from his humility, work ethic and desire to improve.

Cory, who asked coach Gregg Popovich, wanted to be sent to the D-League to stay sharp and hone his skills. That is something rarely seen in NBA players who want the limelight of an NBA court.

In the video below, check out Joseph's road to the NBA Finals including thoughts on his development from his father, brother DeVoe, and best friend Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson.
