San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker set the bar high with his season last year. He led the Spurs to the best record in the NBA and got some well-deserved recognition as a potential MVP candidate. Even if he didn’t really have a shot at the award, it was still an impressive showing.
This year has been a lot more up and down. Parker has had a few games where he’s been almost a non-factor, scoring only a few points and dishing out a handful of assists. The Spurs are going to need TP to get back on track, especially with all the injuries lately.
Maybe the game against Boston was a sign of things to come. Parker scored 26 points, shooting 12 of 17 from the field and added 6 assists. He controlled the game on both sides of the floor, earning some high words of praise from Coach Popovich.
You can clearly see from the interview that Pop was impressed with Parker’s performance, both as a scorer and playing defense on Rajon Rondo. Pop mentions that the Tony Parker that played against the Celtics is the Tony Parker the Spurs need to be successful. We’ll see if he continues to play like that.
