TP ranks among top NBA point guards

There is no doubt, the NBA is a point guard dominated league. Take a look at any team’s roster and you are sure to see one of the better point guards in the league.

From established floor leaders such as Steve Nash, Chauncey Billups, Chris Paul or Jason Kidd to the next generation of point guards such as Derrick Rose, John Wall, Brandon Jennings, or Kyrie Irving, it is indeed a point guard league.

However, one point guard who gets overlooked many times in discussions of the NBA’s best is San Antonio Spurs’ Tony Parker despite owning an NBA resume any player would want to own.

SI.com recently put together a list (in no particular order) of the NBA’s best point guards and TP was listed among the best.

A three-time NBA champion, Tony Parker is often overlooked thanks to the large shadow cast by Tim Duncan, but has nonetheless been one of the NBA’s premier point guards for years. He’s averaged 16.7 points and 5.7 assists over his 10-year career and was named to the All-NBA’s third team in 2008.

Hard to argue why TP shouldn’t be mentioned among the best and to perhaps make a case of why he should head-and-shoulders among the rest is his aforementioned NBA resume. Aside from being a three-time NBA champ, he is a former All-Star, and can say he was an NBA Finals MVP (2007).

Not many NBA point guards can lay claim to that.
