Toros’ Lyons, Thomas selected to US Pan-American Games Team

The San Antonio Spurs’ D-League affiliate Austin Toros will be well represented at the upcoming 2011 US Pan-American Games.  Toros’ Leo Lyons and Lance Thomas have been selected to the Pan-American Games Team.

The team is comprised for the first time in Pan American Games history of NBA Development League players who are under contract to play in the NBA D-League in 2011-12.

Lyons and Thomas and the rest of the final 12-man roster will continue training through October 22 and will play beginning later this month at the Pan American Games in Mexico.

Here is the final roster:

Blake Ahearn (Erie BayHawks/Missouri State ‘07); Brian Butch (Injured for 2010-11 season/Wisconsin ‘08); Justin Dentmon (Texas Legends/Washington ‘09); Jerome Dyson (Tulsa 66ers/Connecticut ‘10); Moses Ehambe (Iowa Energy/Oral Roberts ‘08); Marcus Lewis (Tulsa 66ers/Oral Roberts ‘09); Renaldo Major (Dakota Wizards/Fresno State ‘04); Donald Sloan (Reno Bighorns/Texas A&M ‘10); Gregory Stiemsma (Sokhumi Tbilisi, Georgia/Wisconsin ‘09); and Curtis Sumpter (Maroussi BC, Greece/Villanova ‘07)

Last season with the Toros, Lyons averaged 14.9 points, and 6.0 rebounds while Thomas averaged 12.6 points, and 5.5 rebounds.
