Toros Look to Extend Win Streak

1

The Austin Toros are back in action tonight with a road game a few hours north of Austin– Frisco, Texas home of the newest D-League team, the Texas Legends. In their first meeting with the Legends, Coach Jones and the team hope to keep their win streak alive.

Both teams are coming off back-to-back wins.

For those who are unfamiliar with the Texas Legends here are a few key names to get you through the game. The Legends are coached by Nancy Lieberman, a former WNBA player and coach. Forward Matt Rogers was their number one draft pick (4th overall) in this year’s draft. Drafted in the third round, Justin Dentmon currently leads the team in scoring. Averaging impressive double-double figures (18.5 points and 14 rebounds) Joe Alexander is the only Legend recording double-digit boards on a consistent basis. Lastly, just as the Spurs and Toros had the Bonner brothers last season the Legends have the Terry brothers. Jason Terry’s half-brother Curtis was selected by the Legends in the seventh round.

What should also be noted is that Lewis Clinch is off to a great start this season. Last season Clinch finished the season averaging 9.1 points a game. He’s close to doubling those scoring figures with 17 points a game and was the Toros top scorer in both games over the weekend. Austin has five other players averaging double-digit points (Thomas Gardner, Squeaky Johnson, Lance Thomas, Marcus Cousin, and Kevin Palmer).

The in-state rivalry will tip-off tonight at 7:00. Fans can catch the game for free in HD on Futurecast by logging on to AustinToros.com.
