Toros lock up second pick in D-League Draft

After a disappointing season where the San Antonio Spurs’ D-league affiliate Austin Toros photo: Chris Covatta/NBAE/Getty Images finished 22-28, the team was able to secure the second overall pick in the upcoming D-League Draft.

Here is how the first round order of the D-League Draft shook out:

  1. Los Angeles D-Fenders
  2. Austin Toros
  3. Maine Red Claws
  4. Sioux Falls Skyforce
  5. Texas Legends
  6. Iowa Energy (to Bakersfield)
  7. Erie BayHawks
  8. Bakersfield Jam
  9. Idaho Stampede (to Erie)
  10. Fort Wayne Mad Ants
  11. Tulsa 66ers
  12. Dakota Wizards
  13. Reno Bighorns (to Bakersfield)
  14. Rio GrandeValley Vipers
  15. Canton
  16. Springfield Armor (to Tulsa)

With the second pick, the Toros could have a much improved season especially seeing how Leo Lyons and Lance Thomas will be returning to Austin. Also, another season with head coach Brad Jones at the helm will also help improve this young Toros squad.

The Toros’ regular season is set to kick off on November 26th against the Dallas Mavericks’ D-League affiliate Texas Legends.
