San Antonio Spurs 114, Cleveland Cavaliers 102 – January 23
While LeBron James scored his 30,000th point against the Spurs, being just the seventh player to do so, it was the silver and black that came away with the win.
Despite 28 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for the Cavs, they had no answer for LaMarcus Aldridge. Aldridge was as dominant as he has been all season with 30 points and eight rebounds, but it was the play of newly-named starting point guard Dejounte Murray that stood out. He finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals and three assists.
Tony Parker, who Murray just replaced, also had a standout game with 14 points and six assists in just 18 minutes.
San Antonio Spurs 112, Denver Nuggets 80 – January 13
In between two losses to some of the lesser NBA teams on the road in the Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks, the Spurs were able to manage a dominant 32-point win over the Denver Nuggets back in the cozy confines of the AT&T Center.
The Spurs had both Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker back in the starting lineup. Leonard finished the game with 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals. Parker, in limited minutes managed five points and five assists.
It was also a big night for Latvian big man Davis Bertans, who was on fire from deep. He had 18 points and knocked down six of his seven three point attempts.
San Antonio Spurs 105, Boston Celtics 102 – December 8
Despite 36 points from Kyrie Irving, the San Antonio Spurs fought back and it was Manu Ginobili nailing a high-arcing three-pointer to give the Spurs a notable win over the Eastern Conference’s number one team.
Ginobili was one of five Spurs in double figures. Based on Boston’s hot early start and the Spurs’ struggles against top tier teams, anyone reading the Basketball Betting Guide may have put their bets on the Celtics, but as many teams have learned in the past, it’s never safe to count out the Spurs.
With the win, the Spurs were able to split the season series with the Celtics
San Antonio Spurs 107, Minnesota Timberwolves 99 – October 18
In the season opener, we got a good glimpse at the new-look LaMarcus Aldridge as he started the season off with a 25 point, 10 rebounds, four assist and two block night. Dejounte Murray also got the start with Tony Parker still dealing with his injury management. Murray finished with 16 points and five rebounds.
We also got a look at the Spurs’ big acquisition of the summer in Rudy Gay, who managed 14 points off the bench.
