Tony Parker paces Spurs in simulated win over Mavs

photo: freshnba.comThanks to the NBA lockout, San Antonio Spurs fans are still left without seeing their favorite team in action. It also robbed them of seeing what would have been the first matchup of the new season between the Spurs and the Dallas Mavericks.

Any Spurs-Mavs matchup is always a game to watch as this rivalry is one of the best in the NBA.

Fortunately, our friends out at AccuScore simulated the game and according to them, the Spurs would be celebrating their second win of the season over the defending NBA champs.

Here’s why:

San Antonio Spurs 97, Dallas Mavericks 90
The Spurs prevailed over their Texas rivals with some terrific offense.  They shot 51.5 percent from the field, turned the ball over just 6 times, and shot 14 more free throws than Dallas.  Tony Parker led San Antonio with 21 points.  Dirk Nowitzki was good, but not at his true superstar NBA Finals level with 20 points and 8 rebounds.

While the outcome of this simulation is to the delight of Spurs fans, it still doesn’t replace seeing the real thing. How great would have it been to see Kawhi Leonard try his hand at defending Nowitzki, or seeing the dejected look on the face of Mavs owner Mark Cuban after another loss to the Spurs?
