Tony Parker announces his retirement… from rap career

Mark this day as the day the music died. Well, San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker's music career to be exact.

Back in 2007, Parker launched a French rap album which included singles such as "Balance-tois," "Premier Love," and "Top of the Game."

In a recent interview with French site Tele-Loisirs, Parker was asked if he had any plans to release another rap album but he made it clear he has retired from the music business.

[H]e confirms that his career is over, ''I'm retired from music."

Despite the jokes many had at TP's rap career and the lack of success in the U.S., he did find success in his home country of France. His single, "Balance-tois," reached number one in the SNEP official French chart and was tops for one week.

His videos included teammate Tim Duncan and former teammates Brent Barry, Robert Horry and Nazr Mohammed.  In the video for "Balance-tois," it featured his ex-wife actress Eva Longoria.

This music endeavor was probably sparked by his free-style rap performance when the Spurs took home the 2007 NBA crown. While at the fan celebration, Parker took the mic and showed off his French rapping skills.

Though other pro-sports athletes have tried, many have not succeeded in carrying on a music career. However, it was a good run but hopefully Tony will just focus on staying in shape, remaining healthy and continue to lead the Spurs to another NBA title.

In the meantime, let's look back at his music career with a few videos from his debut album "TP."
