Tim Duncan and Becky Hammon Among 2020 Eligible Hall of Fame Candidates

Thursday the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced their eligible candidates for the 2020 class. Among the names of candidates were San Antonio Spurs assistant coaches Tim Duncan and Becky Hammon.

Duncan was drafted by the Spurs in 1997 and retired back in 2016. During his storied and accomplished career, Duncan led the Spurs to the playoffs in every single season, and he brought the city its first NBA Championship back in the 1998-99 season. Duncan would go on to help San Antonio win four more championships in 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2014.

Duncan was a two-time NBA MVP during the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons and a 15-time All-Star. Over his long career with the Spurs, Duncan tallied 26,496 points, 15,091 rebounds, 4,225 assists, and 3,020 blocks.

Hammon first entered the WNBA during the 1998-1999 season with the New York Liberty and she retired with the San Antonio Stars in 2014.

During her career, Hammon led her teams to the playoffs 13 times. Hammon was a four-time All-WNBA team member and six-time All-Star.

During her career in 450 games, Hammon totaled 5,841 points, 1,708 assists, and 488 steals in regular season games.

The finalists will be announced at All-Star weekend in Chicago, Illinois on February 14, 2020. The entire class will be unveiled in April at the NCAA Final Four tournament in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on August 29, 2020 in Springfield, Massachusetts.
