The San Antonio Spurs held on for a 120-118 victory over the Phoenix Suns (18-25) at Talking Stick Resort Arena on Monday night to complete their back-to-back set.
The win was the second straight for San Antonio, who will face Zion Williamson and New Orleans next on the schedule. The Spurs led by as many as 20 points but Phoenix used a big second-half rally to make the game close.
Three Standout Players
Bryn Forbes
Bryn Forbes had a career-night as he finished with 24 points and shot a sizzling 73 percent from three-point range, hitting a career-high 8-for-11 from downtown. All eight of his baskets were from three and it shows why Coach Pop continues to rely on him in games even when his shooting is not always on form.
Derrick White
Derrick has shown his improvement from year to year and his hard work has finally been paying off. He had 25 points, seven assists, and three rebounds in the win on Monday. His 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter gave San Antonio the lead for good as he went 4-for-5 from beyond the arc in the game.
DeMar DeRozan
DeRozan continues to light up the scoreboard but had a very quiet but effective night on Monday. He finished with 18 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists. He did not need to carry much of the scoring load with White and Forbes handling things. If anything, he made their lives a tad easier, finding them for big buckets.
UP NEXT:
The Spurs are now 19-23 on the season and will return to the court on Wednesday night when they travel to face the New Orleans Pelicans (17-27) at 7 p.m. from the Smoothie King Center.
