While the young Charlotte Bobcats impressed early drawing the Spurs on the second night of a back-to-back, you just had a feeling it would go the way of classic Mike Tyson overmatched fight. It would only take time for the Spurs to dissect and pick apart the Bobcats, using crisp passes and ball movement in combination with a three-point shooting clinic to put away the Bobcats early in a 132-102 win.
The Spurs got double figures for seven players with two others just a basket away from joining the double digits club.
The Spurs now have three straight road games, starting with Houston on Monday before they make their way back to the comfy confines of the AT&T Center for a matchup against the Boston Celtics on Saturday.
In Retrospect
Our own Jose Grijalva played the role of Miss Cleo with his statement in yesterday's Matchup of the Game post.
With the Spurs' depth, an early dominant night from Parker will help seal the game and the matchup with the Spurs having excellent depth and can contain opposing team's better players during stretches. For Parker, winning the matchup will be determined in the first two quarters and won't necessarily reflect the box score.
Quotable
"We were fortunate. We made a lot of 3s. We had a phenomenal night from the 3-point line, and when an NBA team does that it makes it pretty tough on the opponent. It's abnormal, but it happened tonight, so it made it tough on Charlotte." – Spurs coach Gregg Popovich.
By the numbers
23 – points by Danny Green on a 7-of-9 shooting night beyond the arch.
10-8-6 – Nando De Colo's points, rebounds and assists in 25 minutes of playing time.
55.9 – Spurs three-point shooting percentage, knocking down a record 19-of-34 long-range attempts.
38 – Spurs assists as the Spurs continue to share the ball
Fantasy Focus
Tiago Splitter has had 10 or more points in five of his last seven games with his rebounding numbers averaging out at about six per game recently. Even in limited minutes against Charlotte, Splitter made his presence felt again. He's been the benefactor of some smooth passes lately and it seems he is very comfortable with Manu Ginobili and Nando De Colo in the game. As he continues to recieve consistent minutes, look for him to continue playing a big role off the bench.
