Supercross Houston 450 Preview

This weekend is the first time that the AMA Supercross Championship has been in Houston since the city hosted the first three contests of the pandemic-impacted 2021 season. In that last race, it was Colt Nichols and Chase Sexton who was victorious at 250 and 450 respectively.

On the note of Sexton, he enters Houston this year with a bit of momentum after collecting the win last week in California. With the victory, he picked up crucial points in the standings to pull into a time with Cooper Webb for second place on the season. Points-leader Eli Tomac had quite the stumble as he finished in fifth place, decreasing his advantage to just four points. Surely intent on righting the ship, Houston won’t be easy. Tomac was able to collect a win there in one of the 2021 races, leading the final 23 laps after Sexton faltered in Lap 7.
