Summer League Profile: Nando de Colo

0

With the 2009 NBA Summer League beginning this weekend, and the Spurs playing their first game July 12, we here at Project Spurs will begin to profile some players on the team.  We start off with Nando de Colo.

H: 6′ 5″
W: 187 lbs

Position: PG/SG

Once again the Spurs grab a foriegn player from France when the Spurs picked Nando in the second round of the 2009 NBA Draft at pick 53.  A guard from the French Basketball League, Nando will have to prove his worth if he is to make the Spurs team with guards already on the team such as Manu, Mason, and Finley.

What he brings:  Court vision, creativity, ball-handling, nice shooting touch, and can pass the ball.

What he needs to improve: Defense, defense defense.  To make the Spurs roster he will have to improve in this area.  This can be taught, especially with Coach Pop at the helm.

His style reminds me of a young Brent Barry of his time with the Clippers.  The Spurs do have a nice gem on their hands but in the end, expect the Spurs to stash Nando in France.
