After playing the Thunderbirds (14-22) four times already, I asked Johnson if he had a feeling of what to expect from the Thunderbirds.
“I mean you know, sometimes that team gives you up and down games,” Johnson said. “They’re never out of a game because they’re so scrappy; they play hard and they can get to the lane and finish plays.”
One of the most explosive players in the D-League is Thunderbirds guard Dar Tucker. He won the D-League slam dunk contest in Los Angeles recently. I asked Johnson if limiting Tucker from making fanatic plays is a key to winning tonight.
“Oh yeah we have to, he’s a game changer and he can make one play a spectacular dunk and change the game and he can get his team into it,” Johnson said.
