ESPN The Magazine’s 2009 Ultimate Standings is an annual list ranking how pro sports teams pay back their fans.  It is the only comprehensive ranking of all 122 major North American professional sports franchises. It aims to quantify the unique relationship between fans and their favorite teams by determining which franchises establish and maintain the most overall reward for their fans.

So how did the franchise with the best winning percentage in all of pro sports (.703) do? Here is how our Spurs ranked in a few catagories:

1.  Spurs made the top 10 overall franchises ranking number 9.  Last year they ranked number 2.

2.  Spurs are ranked number 2 in ownership with Holt receiving lots of praise.

3.  Spurs are tied with the New England Patriots for the number 1 spot when it comes to coaching/managing their franchise.

4.  Spurs rank number 2 in Fan Relations and 37th in the “Bang For Your Buck” catagory with fans getting postsesason tickets for regular-season prices through the second round, the entertainment away from the seats such as “Overtime” and “Sombrilla” the patio at the AT&T Center behind Section 115.
