The San Antonio Spurs are to work out former NBA player and Tony Parker’s French countryman, Mickael Gelabale, according to Hoopshype.

Gelebale, a forward, last played in the NBA for the Seattle Supersonics from 2006-2008. For his NBA career, he averaged 4.5 points, 2.1 rebounds, shot 45% from the field, 80% from the free throw line in 15.6 minutes. He also spent time in the D-League in 2009 with the Los Angeles Defenders.

Currently, he is playing for the French club ASVEL, the same team Parker has ownership in. He has also been a member of the French national team, winning the bronze medal at EuroBasket 2005.

Gelebale has been away from NBA level of competition for some time and that could be something to keep an eye on. He has a motor, and gives 100% effort on the court but he did suffer an ACL injury in 2008 which cut his NBA career short. However, is he long and athletic and plays defense.

Alright Spurs fans. I know you want to chime in on this bit of news. What do you have to say on this? Think Gelebale would be a good fit for the Spurs?
