Spurs worked out Miami’s Dwayne Collins

It seems the San Antonio Spurs have been working out mainly guards as the 2010 NBA Draft approaches. Sometimes much to the dismay of Spurs fans and they would prefer the team to address the lack of a big man in the middle to play with Tim Duncan.

Well last month the Spurs did work out a big man when they took a look at Miami’s Dwayne Collins:

Dwayne is a MONSTER around the basket. His outside touch is a little suspect, but when you have a power game like Collins has, there is no need for an outside jumper – although it wasn’t terrible by any stretch. The best NBA comparison would be DeJuan Blair meets Dwight Howard.

He is headed to San Antonio today, who had him in last year when he tested the waters.

Probably not the big man Spurs fans envision but Collin is 6’8″, with a 7’5″ wingspan and 232 pounds. While at Miami, he averaged 12 points, shot 60.4% from the field, and averaged 7.8 rebounds.
