Spurs 106 – Nuggets 104

LaMarcus Aldridge led the silver and black to a 106 – 104 win last Tuesday night in game three of five in a row in San Antonio. Aldridge had 30 points and 5 rebounds while Kyle Anderson and Pau Gasol each contributed with 18 points of their own.

Spurs 91 – Rockets 102

A bad first quarter offensive performance led the Spurs to fall short to the Rockets 102-91 in game four of a five game home-stand on Thursday night. Danny Green led the Spurs with 22 points, 9 of which came from beyond the arc. Aldridge had 16 points and 8 rebounds and Bryn Forbes put up 11 of his own on 50% shooting.

Spurs 111 – Jazz 120

Despite Aldridge’s 31 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists, the Spurs were unable to overcome the Jazz Saturday night as they fell 111-120 in their last game at home before the Rodeo Road Trip. Manu Ginobili put up 13 points of his own and Patty Mills and Tony Parker contributed with 11 a piece in 23 minutes each.

Week in Review

The Spurs finished their 5 game home-stand 2-3 right before heading into the rodeo road-trip. The Spurs are currently 12-15 on the road as they go into a month-long, 6-game road trip just midway through the season. The Spurs will face the top-seed Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers during the road trip.

While Aldridge has proven his worth and position on the team, the Spurs are still coming up short in many ways. Although San Antonio has a fairly good amount of veteran players, the Spurs have made many mistakes costing them chances of winning time after time. Just this week, the Spurs turned the ball over 16 times twice.

Other areas in which the Spurs need to improve if they want a shot at competing with the leagues best is on the defensive end of the court. San Antonio, hailed for its defensive abilities, allowed James Harden to score 28 points and the Rockets to score 102 points. Similarly, against the Jazz, San Antonio was unable to stop Utah from behind the arc as the Jazz shot 12 of 23 from three-point land and ended up with the 120-111 win.

Looking Ahead

The Spurs begin their 6-game Rodeo Road Trip Wednesday as they go head-to-head with the Phoenix Suns. Then the silver and black get a few days of rest before they face the top-seeded Warriors on Saturday night.
