Spurs 112 – Lakers 116

Week in Review

Week 20 was rough for the Spurs as the silver and black played their first game at home after the nearly month-long Rodeo Road Trip. San Antonio was unable to win either game this week which resulted in their falling into seventh place in the Western Conference standings.

Going forward, the road looks rough for the Spurs as they currently sit merely one game ahead of the eighth seed — the Denver Nuggets. With so many badly-timed injuries this season, the Spurs seem to have the worst luck in the NBA right now. Without a strong supporting cast, the Spurs are in for an uphill climb as long as they are without Aldridge. Aldridge, who had a rough start to his career with the Spurs, has been the only consistent aspect of this year’s squad.

Looking into the home stretch, the Spurs still have three matches against Western Conference powers such as the Golden State Warriors, the Houston Rockets, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Currently sitting in seventh place, and with just a game between them and the eighth seed, the Spurs will need to find some kind of rhythm if they want to make an appearance in the playoffs this season.

Looking Ahead

The Spurs will continue their season tonight as they face the Memphis Grizzlies in San Antonio. Then, the Spurs will head to Oakland to face the Warriors Thursday before their trip to Oklahoma City to match up against the Thunder on Saturday.
