The San Antonio Spurs continued their winning ways on Tuesday night and extended their win streak over the Minnesota Timberwolves to 16 games.
While 16 wins may make the Timberwolves seem like the Spurs’ punching bag, someone forgot to tell them, as they’ve taken the Spurs down the stretch in all four games this season, Tuesday night’s being no different.
A first quarter lead kept the Spurs ahead all game, but Kevin Love and company would not go down without a fight.
Love finished the game with 20 points and 20 rebounds, continuing his rebounding dominance over the rest of the NBA.
Martell Webster and Luke Ridnour also scored 20 points apiece for the Wolves, while six players paced the Spurs with double figures.
Manu Ginobili led all Spurs in scoring with 19 points, Richard Jefferson had 17, Tim Duncan had 16, George Hill had 13 and Tony Parker finished with 12 points and 13 assists.

In Retrospect
Jeff Garcia talked to fellow bloguin-ite Dave Kelsey from TwolvesBlog before last night’s game and got his thoughts on the Wolves game plan against the Spurs.
“Give the ball to Darko and Love, and let them shoot it 40+ times combined. Our guards are terrible, and I’d personally sit out Beasley anyways. No one else on our team can really create their own shot, and Darko and Love have already had a ton of success against the Spurs already this season. It would appear they are our best option for victory.”
Fantasy Focus
Martell Webster has been playing a consistent role with the Wolves this year and that’s translated well to the stat sheet. He’s averaging 13 points and 3.5 rebounds per game this season and has scored in double figures in 11 of his last 15 games, definitely worthy of your watch list.
If you took a chance on Tiago Splitter at any time this season, he continues to get little to no time on the floor and his spot might be better utilized with another player. Splitter has played a combined 36 minutes in his last five games and has only scored in two of those games.
